October Mindfulness Challenge – Day 2

by

Well, I did it! I made it through 2 whole days with absolutely no social media! I know, I know…I’m very brave.

The last time I went this long without seeing what’s happening out on Twitter…hmmm…well…I don’t know if I can think back that far. The point is it WAS possible at some point in my life. Heck, I didn’t even have Facebook until 8 or 9 years ago. How did I ever remember anyone’s birthday before then? Oh, that’s right. I never remembered anyone’s birthday. (Sorry, everyone.) Now I have no choice but to remember.

And by the way, it’s not just social media I’m boycotting for October. I’ve also decided to stop checking the “news.” It’s always the same BS anyway: house fire, dog abused, WWIII about to break out at any minute, etc. I can’t even check the local news anymore unless I want to pay a monthly subscription for online access. I think I’ll pass.

I have to say, even though it’s only been 2 days, I do feel more peaceful and centered. It’s amazing how much better you feel when you don’t expose yourself to an endless barrage of anger, hate, and snarkiness. Sure, I have no clue what’s going on in the world, let alone in my own backyard, but if there truly is any so called BREAKING NEWS — an incoming doomsday meteor or a Kardashian discovering that peanut butter and jelly taste great together — I’m sure I’ll figure it out eventually. I just hope I don’t miss it if…I mean, WHEN they find Bigfoot.

As I said yesterday, I won’t be posting any of this out on Facebook (that would be against the rules), but if you’re enjoying it, please feel free to share on your own.

The world must be told of my incredible courage!

See you tomorrow… ~
